I turned 38 last week. It sounds much older than 37. I've been dreading this birthday so much that I accidentally told people I was 38 most of the year. I'll be 50 in only 12 years. :O A troubling thought brought to my mind after watching a prescription drug advertisement. Those 12 years will fly by.
It was a stressful birthday, having to spend most of the day doing correspondence continuing education courses for my dental hygiene license renewal. I had forgotten all about it that month and had only one day left before it expired and 12units to complete. It's always a wonderful feeling to finish that last unit and exam to renew my license!
(I have to complete 25 hours of continuing education every 2 years)
Once that was over I was able to enjoy my birthday.
I awoke to a gift I've had on my wish list for many years now.

I feel young again being able to ride with my kids.

Travis also found this Schwinn bike for me from Wal Mart at half the price.
It was very tough deciding between the two, even after
riding them around the neighborhood. This bike is
like a hybrid with it's beach cruiser style and 7 speeds.
But the pink bike won out with style. The wheels were wider and I loved the handle bars.
Wish I could keep them both!
Birthday treat
Having worked all week getting up at 5:30am, I started getting sleepy at dinner and decided to postpone our late night movie. We went to it last night instead and I loved it!: (post edit-have seen it twice now)
I loved loved loved Steve Carrell and Ryan Gosling's performances. It was a surprise to see Josh Groban with a small role in the film, and Emma Stone was perfect for the role of Ryan's love interest. There were a few parts of the movie that were overdone, and some content of the movie made me feel yucky (Steve's character trying the worldly life). But the movie had true to life characters and situations that you resonate with. The movie was very funny and had a great overall message about what brings true happiness. Can't wait to buy this one!

Ahhhh - I totally want one of those bikes! Problem is, my birthday is in December, and you do not ride bikes in December in Utah. Maybe Mother's Day? I know how you feel about the birthdays...I spent the whole year before I turned 40 thinking I was 40. Now that it's arrived, it's not so bad. Yes, the gray hairs are coming in en force, but it's a great stage of life with the kids and all the fun things they're doing. Happy birthday!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kris! Yes, go for a Mothers Day bike. or how about Labor Day for all the babies you've birthed?
ReplyDeleteI had another gray hair scare this year. Luke promised me he could see lots of gray hairs and even took a photo to prove it but I couldn't see it. Travis did a full inspection and thankfully it was blonde. He told the kids it didn't even look close to gray. With my dark red/brownish hair color it makes my blonde hairs growing in look more gray to the kids I guess. Phewwww. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I get my Dad's no gray hair gene.
Happy belated Birthday! I love the bike and the great pics.
ReplyDeleteThank you Alea :)
ReplyDeleteI love the pink bike you kept! Continuing education is so annoying. I just finished my 30 hours for real estate license renewal. At least mine is only due every 4 years.

Every 4 years would be much better! You need to get a bike now so we can ride together!
