Best Western Laguna Brisas Spa Hotel

We wanted to spend a few days on the beach
while in Southern Cal, and chose the beautiful
After searching for hotels, we were
fortunate to find
at an affordable rate.

If you've never done Priceline bidding before,
you have to bid on a hotel based on star ratings
and location.  You are not allowed to bid on specific hotels
and only know which one will accept your bid until after it's finalized.
The only way to see what you might win is
by searching for the star rating
and location to see which hotels show up.
Often times there are a  few hotels on the list
that you DON'T want to end up with.
Typically that's the one you'll get,
and there are no refunds.
One thing to know with Priceline is that
the star ratings don't always match the hotel.
We found this Best Western rated at 2.5 stars,
but guests gave it very high ratings in the reviews.
We had never stayed at the Spa Hotels of Best Western,
and were really pleased to see this one on Laguna Beach.

We get on Priceline to see the rate
and realized that this was the only hotel rated 2.5 stars
on Laguna Beach.
This means that when we bid on it,
we were guaranteed to win it!  :)
In some cases it's better
to narrow your choice of location
and star rating so that it only includes a few hotels.

Our hotel stay came with a free continental breakfast.
It was average food, but
our room was nice and very close to the beach.

This was our view from the deck of the hotel.

The pool was pretty small but the hotel is also small.
There was only one family in it the whole time
the kids played here.

The hotel is not on the beach, but just a quick walk across the street and you're there.
They advertise it as "99 steps to the beach"
so the kids had fun counting.

Right after crossing the street, this is how close you are

the beach next to our hotel is called "Bluebird Beach"
and there are Inns right on this beach you can stay in

the water here is a strikingly beautiful color.

this is where we exited from the parking garage and a trolly
stop is very close by to take you anywhere in the town.

the balcony to our room faced the beach and road.
Many reviewers note that it's not a quiet hotel
being next to the road, but it didn't bother us at all.

The beds were cozy and nice.

The kids were more excited for this jacuzzi tub in our room
than the pool.   It's a very deep tub and almost difficult
to get inside.   You have to be careful.

Our room was clean and provided all the necessary amenities,
but the casino carpet needs to go.

We really liked this hotel and would stay here again.
