CTR Woman

I finally decided to design and sew Baila's Halloween costume the day before her big school carnival,
and stayed up until around 4am to finish it.
If you missed the inspiration behind this costume, click here.

I'm grateful my Mom was able to come over and help out so Baila could wear this to the school carnival on Friday night.  Couldn't have met the deadline without her!

I don't know how my Mom was able to sew five costumes every Halloween for us during my childhood.
  After doing just Baila's, I've decided that one handmade costume a year is my limit.  Financially it's also my limit.  It was more costly to sew the costume than buying one pre made.  Having to buy all the little things like-matching thread, different fabrics (and it was on sale), iron on materials, velcro, interfacing, accessories,  etc., really adds up.

CTR=Choose the Right

But I have to say after seeing Baila all dressed up,  it made the lack of sleep all worth it.

Don't mess with CTR woman.  She's ready to fight the darkside.

She has superhero power!

  4. Hi Heather,
    I did get lots of questions about what CTR stands for. My only fear was that people would think the "choose the right" was a political statement. Come to think of it, I guess the two meanings are synonymous when you're LDS. ;)

  5. Tawna,
    Baila had so much fun that night.
    I wish you could see her in person though. Pictures can't capture the essence of CTR woman.

  6. i have not once made a child's costume. things are so readily accessible, that you just have to run to the nearest wally world, and you have almost anything. except ctr woman, i doubt you could have found anything that cool. good for you! she looks great!!

  7. Thanks Marne! :)
    I hadn't sewn an outfit since I was 12 years old. Back in those days my Mom would make all my clothes because it saved so much money, and I would sew copy cats of the trendy name brands like "Espirit" and "Guess." Times have sure changed!
